10 Friendly Video Games With One TERRIFYING Area
2. Ravenholm (Half-Life 2)
Half-Life 2 is a dystopian FPS set in a world ruled by a powerful alien empire. As such, calling it a "friendly" game feels like a stretch. Still, those familiar with Ravenholm will gladly tell you that the dreaded Combine are like puppy dogs compared to this nightmarish ghost town.
The story of this once quaint mining town is horrifying, as it acted as a firm place of resistance against the dreaded alien invaders before said invaders decimated it. But they didn't destroy Ravenholm with firepower; no, they released a barrage of Headcrabs into it instead.
This, naturally, led to the civilians becoming zombies as the parasitic creatures attached to their skulls. It's as terrifying as it sounds, which is why traversing through it is so horrible.
Getting through this segment takes guts, as you've got to contend with the terrifying zombies with very limited resources. Your newly acquired Gravity Gun is your saving grace, but it doesn't keep the atmosphere from being any less tense.
There's a reason why "we don't go to Ravenholm."
