10 Friendly Video Games With One TERRIFYING Area
3. The Fire Mountain (Forestia)
For those unfamiliar with Forestia, just know it's a harmless point-and-click adventure game designed to teach young children about nature and exploration. Sure, the dated visuals are a little uncanny, but it's a wholly whimsical, educational time.
Well, that is until one area transports you to a death-filled, apocalyptic hellscape. Yes, really.
The Fire Mountain level is one of nine chapters in the game and sticks out like a sore thumb. It opens with the bright and colourful environments of the forest washed over with a blood-red tint. As you explore, you find a collection of dead animals and watch as their souls leave their bodies.
You then meet a red dragon who tasks you with stopping an evil wizard hellbent on destroying the land. Upon reaching his castle, you'll even encounter a terrifying skeleton who talks to you - this is a kid's game, right?
The whole area is so unbelievably out of left field for a cute educational game that you're left reeling. There's no doubt many children were traumatised by this jarring tonal shift.
