10 From Software Bosses EVERYONE Hated Fighting

FromSoftware love to give players the middle finger with these boss fights.

Since the release of Demons Souls back in 2009, FromSoftware have earned their place as one of the greatest developers of all time. With a penchant for testing players patience and sanity when it comes to game difficulty, the majority of the time the developer manages to balance between tough and fair quite well.

Their boss fights like to make you utilise all the skills and tricks you've learnt on your journey thus far, creating a sense of character progression that transcends levels and skill points. Yes you can put in an extra stat point to help you take a bit more damage, but unless you've taken the time to learn what the game is teaching you, a couple more hitpoints just won't cut it.

That being said, FromSoftware isn't adverse to throwing out their own rulebook when it comes to the design of some of their bosses. Sometimes they're unforgivably punishing, other times they're just outright boring.

If you've traveled the roads of Lordran, hunted in the streets of Yarnham, or given everyone in feudal Japan Dragonrot, then you've definitely experienced some of them.

So stock up on estus flasks, put down a deposit for a new controller and have a look at these ten bosses that everyone hates fighting.

10. Lone Shadow Longswordsman - Sekiro

Sekiro took the Dark Souls and Bloodborne formula that players had become so accustomed to and said, "Hey, remember everything you learnt from playing our previous games? Well forget it all if you want to live."

The first few encounters of Sekiro put an emphasis on timing and patience, making you carefully manage your posture whilst slowly breaking down your enemies. That all changed when you drop down into the very well you start the game in and encounter the Lone Shadow Longswordsman.

The trick to defeating this samurai is pure aggression, which is more akin to the likes of Bloodborne. If you can just keep striking him fast enough, he won't even have a chance to kick you in the face.

But the biggest issue in this fight isn't the Longswordsman with his flurry of kicks. It's the camera. Being stuck in this tiny well means you have to deal with both this overly aggressive enemy, and making sure you don't get backed into a corner where you can't even see you or him.

And yes, he is more of a mini-boss than an actual boss, but that doesn't stop him from kicking you to death when your camera is stuck in the wall.
