It's an ability that is able to remove the last stat point you invested in and set you back an entire soul level. That's right, not only does he employ a wide variety of quick attacks that can cut you down in seconds, he can also take away your characters stat progress which can be devastating depending on your build.

Just imagine that you've carefully spec'd out your character to be the most efficient they can be, only for the King to take that vital point of strength away from you, meaning you can no longer wield your Dozer Axe.

Because of this ability it's one of the few fights that gets progressively harder each time you die, so you either need to beat him first try, or just make sure you stay out of the way of his Soul Drain.
