10 Game Mechanics They DESPERATELY Wanted You To Love (But You Didn’t)

1. The Batmobile Batman: Arkham Knight

Getting through a Batman adaptation can sometimes feel like running down a checklist. Does it have Joker? Does it have Robin? Is there an origin story? The Batmobile is one of the most prominent staples on that list. You simply can't have a Batman project without the Batmobile, which is why it was so exciting when Rocksteady brought the legendary vehicle into the third instalment of their Batman: Arkham trilogy, Batman: Arkham Knight.

Then, you started driving it.

Now, to be fair, the mechanic itself isn't too bad. It controls a little awkwardly, but speeding around Gotham City in what's essentially a fast-motion tank is pretty fun. However, the vehicle also doubled up as a combat machine, with Rocksteady filling the game with hours upon hours of mindless drone fighting segments that become repetitive and boring after the first few.

Any fun you had inside this car soon turned into hate as you kept thinking, "Please, no more of these battle mode segments, I beg you." The devs very much overestimated the fun factor of this legendary vehicle - at least when it came to being a tank.
