10 Game Mechanics They DESPERATELY Wanted You To Love (But You Didn’t)
2. Weapon Durability - Breath of the Wild

Complaining about this mechanic is like beating a dead horse with a stick. The thing is, that stick would only last a couple of whacks before breaking anyway, so let's hit away.
Breath of the Wild revolutionised the Legend of Zelda franchise upon its release. That said, there was one element that irked most players beyond relief, and it hasn't gotten any easier with age, that being the weapon durability system. This system, for the uninitiated, was a constant source of anxiety that saw your weapons break after a certain amount of use.
Now, a durability system isn't a problem altogether, as it encourages exploration and creative tactics. It can also lead to exhilarating moments where your weapon breaks mid-fight. However, the sheer fragility of your arsenal took this mechanic from a fun piece of unpredictable gameplay to a constant source of tension and frustration.
Nintendo wanted people to love this mechanic's spontaneous nature, but those "Your weapon broke!" warnings soon became a curse many players despised.
