4. Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy

Naughty Dog's Jak and Daxter series is rightly beloved for many reasons, though its flagrantly obnoxious array of Game Over screens sure isn't one of them.

When Jak dies, the game cuts to his exasperated sidekick Daxter standing over his body - which the player is observing from a first-person perspective - as Daxter shouts a sarcastic one-liner in his typically excited, needlessly boisterous vocal register.

While some of these gags are admittedly pretty funny - the first time you hear them at least - the charm wears off quickly, and after you've heard Daxter ask Jak's corpse if he can have his insect collection for the dozenth time, it's more groan-worthy dead weight than actually funny.
