10 Gameplay Tweaks That Seriously Improve Video Games
7. Use The Touchpad Menu Shortcuts - Days Gone
Days Gone is famously a game that released to mediocre reviews but was largely embraced by the public. Sure it could be a little repetitive, but it did enough new things to satisfy those of us who weren't totally fatigued by cookie-cutter open world games. And yes, Ubisoft, we're looking at you.
In addition to the game's much hyped zombie horde set pieces, the introduction of a single vehicle that you have to maintain was refreshing compared to the easily disposal modes of transportation in most of these games. But there's one feature especially that should have gotten more attention: menu shortcuts!
It sounds boring on paper, but the way Days Gone used the often useless DualShock 4 touchpad should have set a standard for games going forward. With a simple swipe in one of four directions, you could pull up the specific menu you wanted.
Gained a skill point? Swipe down, spend that point, and back to the game. Saving you a few seconds of tabbing between menus doesn't seem like much, and certainly isn't necessary, but it sure is convenient!
It's like the drive-through ordering of video game UI accessibility.
