8. Crash Bandicoot (Uncharted 4)
Giving players the chance to play Crash Bandicoot levels within Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End allowed Naughty Dog to yell from the rooftops, "look how far we've come."
The developer's breakthrough hit appears twice in Nathan Drake's glorious swansong, early in the game when players are drawn into a one-upmanship contest with Elena, and right at the end as a reward for completion.
Although this was merely one level of Crash Bandicoot, rather than the entire thing, the novelty of playing a vintage PSone title within a PS4 game was off the charts, and that wasn't even the best thing about this Easter egg.
Naughty Dog served this up in an organic way, depicting a tender moment between a couple as they sat together on the sofa playing retro video games, chatting away and slurping noodles. This scene in Uncharted 4 captured genuine human emotion in a way that few other games have managed.
