10 Games That You'll Be Playing Long After Rezzed

8. Hotline Miami (Dennaton Games)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv-XCM8sies&feature=player_embedded Possibly the most bizarre title on show in the main area (though this accolade would be highly contested over in the indie games section), Hotline Miami was a late addition to the Rezzed bill that nevertheless attracted a steady crowd of onlookers throughout the weekend, with passers-by being pulled into the game's gravitational field after catching a passing glimpse of its mix of pixellated talking farm animals and ultra-violent hack-and-slash gameplay. Apparently the talking horse, pig and owl heads have something to do with the mentally unstable state of the main character, who works as some kind of hitman in shady late-1980s Miami and dons animal masks as he goes about his business €“ but to be honest, after watching players attempting the same fiendishly difficult starter level again and again and again and again, it's probably enough to know that if you like your games to be bizarre, brilliant, difficult and super-fast, Hotline Miami will be right up your street. Hotline Miami is due for release for Windows and Mac soon, with plans for console releases to follow later this year.

I'm a completist. I love platformers, indie games, bad horror movies and Joss Whedon. You can find me over on Twitter at @ejosully, where I talk about largely unrelated things.
