2. Borderlands 2 (Gearbox Software)
Another entry here for Gearbox Software as Rezzed boasted the UK's first ever playable version of Borderlands 2, with the game's booths taking up almost the entire over-18s corner of the convention. Although the demo was limited to an online co-op campaign, a quick and hectic playthrough showed that this second entry promises more of the same RPG / FPS action in the apocalyptic future, with big guns, bigger enemies, and four all-new playable characters. The campaign itself was centred around defending some kind of abandoned space-mall from giant mecha suits, though to be honest I was a bit too dazzled by those lush day-glo visuals and the sheer fun of the multiplayer action to pay much attention to what was going on narrative-wise. It's a shame that the single-player campaign wasn't available to get hands-on with, but I can at least promise a gorgeous and exhilarating multiplayer mode. Borderlands 2 is scheduled for release on Windows, PS3 and Xbox 360 in September.
