10 Games Within Video Games You Must Play

9. Crash Bandicoot - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

A more recent entry in this list, Uncharted 4 saw Naughty Dog’s return not only to finish of the most epic Indiana Jones inspired, globe-trotting treasure romp, but also the return to one of the most beloved games of the original PlayStation. The original Crash Bandicoot.

The icon of the Sony PlayStation, Crash Bandicoot is one of the founding fathers of 3D platforming and is an absolute classic in the genre. Simplistic in nature, the entire game sees you running towards the camera, jumping gaps, smashing crates and collecting apples. Insanely simple, but incredibly fun. And seeing it in Uncharted was not only one of the most nostalgic moments of 2016, but brought the character into a new light and to a new audience.

Playing through the first ever level was the nostalgia kick many fans need for the franchise, and with the announcement of a remastered original trilogy game, everyone was suddenly pumped for his triumphant return. And while all we may have is the first level, there we can still revel in the difficulty of old school platforming.

It’s a good thing that only get a limited number of tries in when you first play it, because there is no way Libertalia would have ever been discovered if I could sit playing all of Crash Bandicoot.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
