10 Gaming Heroes You Didn't Realise Are Murderous Psychopaths

3. John Marston - Red Dead Redemption

reddeadRockstarRed Dead Redemption is a game about - you guessed it - a man seeking redemption. When that man is forced by by the government to bring his former gang members to justice in exchange for the release of his wife and son. That's not so bad. At most, that's about three people he has to kill. Killing three Men is still a very serious matter, but in the Old West, it's not entirely unrealistic. Of course, it's not that easy. In an ironic twist of fate, Marston will have to do a lot more killing and stealing in order to make up for his past crimes of... killing and stealing. Leave it to the U.S. government to kill hundreds of people in an attempt to catch a small handful of criminals. Whether this irony is part of Rockstar's biting commentary remains up for debate. What isn't debatable is that John Marston is a cold-blooded killer, whether you lean on the side of hero or villain. You don't need to tie women to train tracks for him to be a psychopath, he's already mowing down his enemies in the blink of an eye with his six shooter, repeater, and gatling gun. Granted, most of them are criminals, but does every crime necessitate the death sentence, even on frontier? You might say he's doing it for his family, but what about the families of the men he's killed? What makes the Marston family so gosh darn special?
