10 Gaming Moments Everyone Wishes They Could Unsee
6. The Weirdly Clothed Sex Scenes - Ride To Hell: Retribution
Video games have historically done a pretty terrible job of depicting sex, both because the visual fidelity isn't quite there to convincingly depict the particulars of human sexuality, and also because so many games lack the storytelling nuance to treat it with maturity or honesty.
And then there's the infamous 2013 action-adventure trainwreck Ride to Hell: Retribution, which was panned by critics in practically every way that a video game could be panned.
Reviewers drew particular attention to the game's misogynistic treatment of women and especially its baffling, nausea-inducing sex scenes, in which all participants keep their clothes on throughout. Yup.
During the game you're able to rescue a number of imperiled women who offer their bodies up to protagonist Jake Conway as a "reward," resulting in these toe-curlingly awkward sex scenes in which both Jake and the woman in question clumsily gyrate around without removing a single item of clothing.
It doesn't help of course that you're usually saving these women from brutal abuse, and so to immediately cut to some rutting is tonally jarring to say the least - if not outright problematic.
