10 Gaming Moments Where You Play Like An Utter Dick
7. Rollercoaster Tycoon Series - Being Omnipotent
I imagine many people have fond memories of playing this series as a kid or teen, and so we know that Rollercoaster Tycoon is more or less exactly what it sounds like. You're the owner of a theme park and it's your job to keep everything running, making sure business stays afloat. One aspect of the game is that alongside being the savvy owner of a hit theme park, you also have the powers of an omnipotent demigod, and that power in the hands of certain people is just a bad, bad thing. You can also do the standard 'build-a-ride-that-doesn't-finish-and-watch-it-crash', or the even better, build a ride that crashes into the first one's path. My favorite method was to drown your guests. It was just so entertainingly fiendish and simple. This guest doesn't like the food? Pick him up, drop him in a pool. The guest vomited from a rollercoaster? Pick him up, drown him too. This guest doesn't like the rides? Rinse and...well just keep rinsing. Of course, you could always be really cruel; throw them in, and then right before they drown pull them back out. Just so that they know, to live with fear. You kind of realise something's wrong with you after like, a few dozen? A few hundred? Who really keeps track of these sorts of things. The inevitable park failure is a sure fire way of realising the error of your ways, but you've probably started a new game before that even happened. Power is a dangerous thing, but it's hard to realise when abusing it is so damn fun.
