10 Gaming Villains We Secretly Wanted To Beat Us

2. Bowser (Mario Series)

Whether it€™s dominating Mario on the karting track, stealing his woman or conquering every inch of the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser is a power-hungry villain who will relentlessly do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. The towering turtle is not only the King of the Koopa but is also supposed to be some manner of sorcerer. So how on earth do we find it in ourselves to secretly want Bowser to beat poor old Mario, who he must have some 800lbs on? This is because poor, old Mario is so dull. Without wanting to upset the hordes of Nintendo fans who grew up with him, you must cede that the Italian plumber is so inoffensive, polished and overall average that it is difficult to strongly like him. On the spin-off games like Tennis, Karting etc, Mario is always the well-rounded character with his stats evenly distributed between all the categories. Who wants to support a super-hero who is the average person€™s choice? Why not throw some caution to the wind and pick Bowser €“ who may be slow and handle awfully but is strong as an ox €“ next time you dive into a game of Mario Kart? The fact that Mario has undeservedly been universally celebrated and adored for over 20-years despite his unappealing nature means it is time for his nemesis to finally flatten him.
