10 Gaming Villains We Secretly Wanted To Beat Us

4. Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII)

Sephiroth is single-handily responsible for arguably what is the biggest atrocity in video gaming history with his murder of sweet, vulnerable Aerith. The poster-boy for JRPG villains everywhere, Sephiroth may have committed this fiendish act of malevolence against an unarmed target, but somehow he still holds a place in our hearts €“ why do we still sort-of like Sephiroth? His killing of Aerith wasn€™t a hiccup on an otherwise clean moral record either. The villain suffering with a consuming God-complex was also responsible for the burning of Nibelheim and the attempted murder of Tifa. Sephiroth doesn€™t seem to have a good bone in his body, but he managed to constantly do his evil deeds oozing with style and poise that we would be lying if we didn€™t €“ at several points in Final Fantasy VII €“ want to trade Cloud in and play as the villain trying to become a God. From those flowing platinum locks to that improbably large sword (the Masamune), Sephiroth is quite simply the badass we all want to be.
