Not so much a fourth wall break, but rather a realisation of real-world events impacting our games, Football Manager 2017 tackles the issue of Brexit. At some point during your first season, an announcement arrives in your inbox that Britain are triggering Article 50 and will be leaving the EU.

The game randomly determines whether it will be a 'soft Brexit' or a 'hard Brexit', which itself has an impact on future player transfers, including rising costs for overseas players, and red tape trying to get visas for European players.
