10 GENIUS Time Travel Levels In Video Games
8. Anju And Kafei Mission - The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Time travel is a surprisingly common trope in the Legend of Zelda franchise. Out of all the games in the series, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask handles the concept in the most interesting and in-depth manner by trapping the player in a Groundhog Day scenario where they keep repeating the same three days before the end of the world.
You might think that the constant repetition of a three-day schedule would get boring, but it's actually the most satisfying part of Majora's Mask. Each day has plenty of side quests that require you to use your knowledge of the future to alter their course for the better.
The most complicated, ambitious, and engaging of them is the Kafei and Anja storyline, which spans across the entire three-day period and takes multiple changes in the timeline to complete.
The whole side quest is too long to describe here, and it would involve major spoilers, but the gist of it is that you try to reunite two lovers after one of them was cursed to look like a child.
The side quest requires a lot of time travel and spying on people, but it's part of the reason why helping Kafei and Anju is so entertaining.
