10 Goriest Video Game Weapons - Ranked

8. F.E.A.R's Nail Gun

Bioshock Infinite Skyhook
Monolith

F.E.A.R. was a great first-person shooter with Japanese horror sensibilities, ultramodern gun-fondling action and a serious nasty streak. This was never more evident than when it gifted you with the nail gun, a weapon that fires steel spikes instead of anything so mundane as regular bullets.

The nail gun's effect on the hapless clone bozos who oppose you is what makes it truly deserving of reverence. Indeed, the game's physics allowed you to literally staple enemies to the walls, ceiling and floor. Combined with the game's capacity to shift into slow-motion mode for a limited time, the result was wondrously balletic spates of impaled craniums and transfixed limbs.

The final image of a hearty nail gun spree, with bodies speared to every surface and skulls punched through with clusters of shiny steel bolts, is enough to bring a tear to the most jaded FPS junkie's desensitised eye.
