While Limbo was a dark, harrowing platforming game with a bare-bones story, Inside was more of a macabre tale with incredibly slick animation. Many were unclear if Playdead could ever improve upon Limbo's simple brilliance, but the studio took five years to craft an adventure that was an improvement in every way.
