10 Great Video Game Developers Who Haven't Made Anything Good For Years

10. Konami

Metal Gear Survive
Konami

What was once held aloft as a shining beacon for the future of the industry... completely abandoned it to make Pachinko machines, the fans of Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid wondering if the only thing in their future was gambling and the abuse of nostalgia.

Because Konami used to be brilliant, their logo recognised far and wide with a chirpy iconic soundbite backing the animation itself.

Metal Gear Solid, Contra, Silent Hill, Castlevania, the X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade games, the Suikoden series or even random one-offs like 1992's Batman Returns - all were either exemplary and remain playable as hell today, or got thousands of people invested in video games overall.

And yet, what have Konami got to show for themselves this generation?

The aforementioned Pachinko machines (complete with fan-annoying reworks of iconic MGS 3 cutscenes, no less), a handful of "Anniversary Collections" that tick sales boxes for the sake of it, and the godawful Metal Gear Survive - a zombie-based cash-in that died in the sales charts.

Like a loved one suffering from a gambling addiction, please Konami... learn to control yourself and focus on what matters.
