10 Greatest Ever Final Fantasy Summons
1. Bahamut
“The Dragon King” is often the most powerful of the main storyline summons, and his Mega Flare attack, or it's variations, is the most powerful attack of the recurring god-like beasts.
...with the notable, aforementioned exception of FFIX, when Alexander kicked his ass.
He has become so synonymous with Final Fantasy as to appear before there were summoners, showing up in the first Final Fantasy to upgrade your powers and abilities. From III onwards he appears in every main series game, and most sequels and spin-offs. He is most often a summon, often requiring being defeated in battle, to win his loyalty or as a weapon of the enemy, before later joining you.
As a dragon, or sometimes as a man in dragon armour, Bahamut frequently has minor story roles. As one of, if not the actual, king of the other gods/astrals/espers, he frequently imparts wisdom or warning on to the protagonists shortly before their final confrontations.
His imposing image, powerful attacks, regular appearances and frequent plot use are all reasons why we think Bahamut deserves the number 1 spot.
