The 2017 sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, Injustice 2 improves on the already spectacular original title in almost every way.

Although a sequel to the first Injustice title, the game opens with baby Kal-El and his cousin, Kara Zor-El (Supergirl for the uninitiated) escaping the doomed planet Krypton. With the help of Kara's mother, the super duo escape in pods aimed squarely at Earth, but debris from the stricken planet knocks Kara's ship off course. Jumping to the present day, Batman's insurgency are faced with a new threat - The Society...

The most obvious difference between the original and the sequel is the latter's introduction of a gear/loot system. Throughout the game, players are rewarded with character-specific gear and enhancements, which can be equipped at will to create truly unique versions of a particular character. The sheer number of possible combinations ensures that players will rarely - if ever - come up against an exact replica of their own custom build.

The roster, too, has been greatly expanded. Rather than relying on the more recognisable DC heroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Joker, characters like Atrocitus, Blue Beetle, and even Doctor Fate are represented here.
