10 Greatest Ever Video Game DLC That Didn't Steal Your Money

10. Dragonborn - Skyrim

This one is a clever mixture of new content and perfect timing, coming out at a time when Skyrim was steadily fading - with its head held high - from the limelight. There had already been a couple of Skyrim DLCs before Dragonborn, both of which were kind-of yeah-alright but nothing special. By the time this swooped in over a year after Skyrim's release people were already looking in other directions for their RPG kicks. But just as players thought they were out, Dragonborn pulled them back in, captivating them with the impressive island of Solstheim to explore. The fact that it was located closed to the land of Vvardenfell (where Morrowind takes place) gave it some nostalgic appeal too, as the lay of the land had more in common with Morrowind's alien landscapes than the snowy climes of Skyrim - which people had almost certainly grown tired of. As well as offering a solid new story arc and tons of side-quests amounting to around 20 hours of extra gameplay, Dragonborn also introduced the long called-for ability to ride a dragon - an excellent bit of fan service that sealed the deal and recaptured the hearts of Skyrim players for an extra few months.
