It shouldn't be a surprise that perhaps the greatest fighting game of all time also has perhaps the greatest roster of all time. However, what truly separates Marvel vs. Capcom 2 from the rest is that all these years later it still very much surprises gamers. When you first play Marvel vs. Capcom 2 there is that initial wow factor of seeing all of these characters come together in one game that you pray will never go away. The good news is that it doesn't. That's not only because the face value of the characters on display makes them so much fun to play with, but because they only start to reveal their full potential after spending dozens of hours exploring the game's team system. Finding that perfect combo attack only possible between Ryu, Spider-Man, and Doctor Doom is only slightly less satisfying than the realisation that there are a million other such combos waiting to be discovered. The depth of joy to be found amongst this game's roster is so complete, that it doesn't even sound cynical to doubt it can be beaten.
