10 Greatest Fighting Game Rosters Of All Time

4. Ultra Street Fighter IV

There obviously had to be a Street Fighter on here, but the question is, which one? Do you go with the all-time classic selection of Street Fighter II? The more obscure but creative roster of Third Strike? Who gets the nod? In the end, it has to go to Ultra Street Fighter IV. While it doesn't hurt that the game itself is in strong contention for the best that the series has ever produced, its cast of characters strikes that rare balance between size and credibility. Whoever is available on the character select screen that isn't a franchise mainstay was added to bring something to the game that the others did not. They're all visually well-designed, but the true strength of the game's characters are what they contribute to the gameplay itself. Each is deep enough to warrant mastering as a player and generally speaking worth the effort of doing so. A roster this size could have easily disrupted the delicate balance of the Street Fighter series, but instead they manage to form one of the franchise's greatest efforts.
