7. Ares (God Of War)

By the time that you reach Ares in God of War, you will have already completed such incredible feats during the course of your adventure that it is natural to wonder if this final boss can indeed trump them all, or - at the very least - serve as a suitable conclusion to the game. As it turns out, this fight is truly more epic than anything that has come before.

Now, when I say epic, I don't mean the internet definition of epic that accommodates a particularly funny cat video. I mean old-fashioned, greek mythology, battle of the Gods epic. Before this fight is done, you will have gone toe-to-toe with the actual God of War, traveled within your own psyche to fight your inner demons, then grown thirty-feet tall to rip a giant sword/bridge from its place in order to strike down Ares and claim his throne.

So yeah, I guess you could say that God of War's final boss is a worthwhile finale.
