10 Greatest FPS Games Of The Last Ten Years

5. TimeSplitters: Future Perfect

How does one possibly improve upon one of the most acclaimed multiplayer consoles games ever made? By taking it online, of course! Sure, the game's campaign mode is a breezy, campy blast with countless references to classic movies, but this franchise has always been about the multiplayer, and few games have ever done it better. With over a dozen multiplayer modes such as Virus (in which one player starts off as infected and has to try and spread the virus through contact) available for local Arcade play and 16-player online deathmatches for Xbox (or 8-player for PS2), Future Perfect pretty much defines value for money gaming. The game is absolutely bursting with personality, from the superbly-designed maps (the expansive Siberia being a sure fan favourite) to the ridiculous 150 playable characters, all of whom have a distinctive look and hilarious voice actor. Though it's a shame the online mode didn't cater better for PS2 players and most of the modes were limited to local play, it was a fantastic foundation that could certainly be improved if a fourth TimeSplitters game ever actually gets made. Hell, just re-release HD versions of the first three games for next-gen consoles with online play and we'd hoover them up right away.
