1. Dom's Mad World - Gears Of War 3
From the outside looking in, Gears of War is nothing more than a franchise about oversized meatheads shooting equally oversized lizard men from behind chest-high walls, but if given the chance, most will see there is so much more to this world - especially in the later titles.
In the search for fuel they along with Dizzy, Sam and Jace discover that the Lambent has now crossed over to humans, turning the surrounding population into mindless ghouls. Struggling to get the job done with limited resources and a risk the entire town could explode they make it out, that is until the Locust show up.
Cornered by a desperate dying force in the Locast and the ever-growing Lambent, that is on the verge of consuming all life on Sera - Dom makes a selfless sacrifice to help the rest escape.
As he grabs a truck and drives off, the series comes full circle as an instrumental rendition of Mad World creeps into ear, harkening back full circle to the marketing of the first game in the series. After losing his wife, Dom has finally given up, but puts his sacrifice to good use as, without him, Marcus, Dizzy and the rest wouldn’t have made it out.
This, especially at the time, was was a tear-jerker to even the toughest out there.
