2. Grey Fox Vs. Metal Gear Rex - Metal Gear Solid
Hideo Kojima is renowned for his character design and storytelling within the gaming industry, but when it comes to a full-fleshed out cast of characters, nothing comes close to that of Metal Gear Solid on the original PlayStation.
Throughout the course of Metal Gear Solid, Snake not only has to navigate his way through Shadow Moses, save Merel and the world, but defeat each unique member of Fox Hound.
From that first corridor scene, players knew that Grey Fox meant business and this would become apparent in his boss fight - however, this Ninja doesn’t show all his cards until his last stand against Metal Gear Rex.
In perhaps Snakes most desperate time of need, Grey Fox shows up to not only save him, but distracts Rex, piloted by Liquid, for a brief time. It is in these last moments that Grey Fox has a chance to console with Snake, before he tackles Rex once more.
For a moment it seems as if the former Deepthroat could actually take down Liquid, but within a blink of an eye, he is dismembered and crushed by the hulking machine.
Without Grey Fox, Snake surely would’ve suffered a similar fate.
