10 Greatest MTG One Drops Of All Time

6. Birds Of Paradise

Speaking of mana dorks, Birds of Paradise might just be the most powerful one in the game – in fact it is. While you might not get as much bang for your buck in mono-green ramp decks, this card’s ability to tap for mana of any colour allows it to go well in any deck which has a green component, including red and black decks which Noble Hierarch falls short in.

The capacity to gain any colour also makes this creature a staple in rainbow decks, or WUBRG decks if you prefer. While it might not have the exalted ability, it can fly, meaning it can act as a potential chump blocker for flying creatures if you start facing desperate times.

There isn’t much to say about this card other than that it’s a head and shoulder above Noble Hierarchy, doing all of the great mana things that its counterpart does, only better and with more variety.
