On the topic of gaining life, this would be a good tool to buff your Serra Ascendant as from the first turn this card will be healing you for either 2 or 3 health. It’s mirror card, Black Vise, almost made it onto this list itself, though while doing more damage to your opponent is helpful, you can never guarantee how many or how little cards your opponent will have in their hand at any given time.
Ivory Tower, on the other hand, with a base maximum hand size of 7 will give you up to 3 life a turn, which is decent but doesn’t seem like much. However, when combined with card like Reliquary Tower which negate your maximum hand size, it can heal for much, much more.
Also, keep in mind that this card is colourless, meaning it can go into any deck, including blue decks which historically have a massive amount of card draw. Try playing EDH and attempting to burn your opponent down with aggro when they’ve got a fifth of their deck in hand and are gaining 20 life a turn.
