10 Greatest MTG One Drops Of All Time

3. Aether Vile

People have often said, nothing good is ever free, however Aether Vial completely ignores this rule. It’s not very often that you can play a card and get infinite value which just keeps growing and growing. Being able to stack charge counters on this card in preparation for a late-game drop makes this card ridiculous on its own, however it has so many more added benefits.

Playing a multi-coloured deck and you’re into the mid-game but just don’t have that second red mana for your creature? Don’t worry. Since Vial works off CMC, it essentially lets you play cards of any colour. And it would be one thing if summoning a creature with this removed the counters, but it doesn’t meaning you can get a free one-drop after one turn, a free two-drop after two turns and so on.

If you can include a card in your deck which interacts with loyalty counters, it’s game over for your opponent. Aether Vial is the gift which just keeps on giving.
