10 Greatest NES Video Games Of 1985

2. Duck Hunt

One of the most famous video games of all time, so much in fact that there's little to be said about Duck Hunt that hasn't been said already. The best known, and best selling, NES zapper game, Duck Hunt was included in the NES Action Set which was the version most people owned.

The player shoots ducks with the gun with increasing difficulty aided and annoyed by their faithful gun dog. I guarantee no one who has played this game hasn't attempted to shoot the little blighter as he wheezily laughs at their failures.

Duck Hunt really is the epitome of 'simple, yet addictive'. The game barely changes throughout or across its three modes yet its playability was undeniable and it remains brilliantly fun to this very day. Colourful, cute, cartoony graphics mixed with tense, violent yet satisfying gameplay make this one of the all-time NES greats. The ability for a second player to control the duck also adds to the entertainment.

This game is a classic, not just for the NES but across video game history and is destined to take its place as one of the system's greats.
