8. Aggron
Steel/Rock Aron - Lairon - AGGRON Aron becomes Lairon at Level 32, Lairon evolves into Aggron at Level 42
Effect: STURDY negates one-hit knockout moves Aggron is the first dual-type Pokémon on this list. Being a Steel and Rock type Pokémon, Aggron obviously benefits extremely well from ridiculous Defence stats but also suffers from a chronic lack of Speed. Obviously Speed matters little to a Pokémon as durable as Aggron because battles are often turned into wars of attrition with Aggron usually sticking around for the long term. One of the best things about Aggron is it's appearance. It's very similar looking to Rhydon from Generation I and Tyranitar from Generation II meaning it's in very good company on that front. Aggron kinda looks like a Triceratops but on it's hind legs which is obviously cool because... because... dinosaurs. Aron - Aggron's first form - is similar to Ralts in the fact that it's fairly easy to catch at the start of your journey. If you wanted to add one to your party you need only visit Granite Cave which is only shortly northwest of sleepy Dewford Town - little Aron is quite easy to find and capture and definitely well worth training up with moves such as Iron Tail, Take Down and Double Edge learned naturally. These moves are then backed up by a great range of Technical Machines such as Water Pulse, Thunder, Earthquake, Blizzard, Hyper Beam, Dragon Claw and Solarbeam - and that is a crazy set of TM's for ONE Pokémon to learn, I'm not sure how I'd choose! In fact, out of the 50 TM's available on Ruby and Sapphire, Aggron can learn a whopping 33 of them! It can even learn Fire Blast! Although Aggron's dual type gives it a wide variety of moves to defeat it's enemies, it also leaves Aggron with a few weaknesses too, with attacks from Ground and Water types being particularly harmful. However, this Pokémon is still sh** hot to look at and can beat just about every other Pokémon from Generation III which makes it an easy choice for this list.
