A near-constant rival to Sub-Zero ever since the very first game in the Mortal Kombat series, Scorpion is so much more than the palette swap that he initially appears to be.

Whereas Sub-Zero has command over the powers of ice, Scorpion is able to wield hellfire to get the job done. Couple that with the fact that he is actually already dead and has simply been resurrected so that he can avenge the destruction of his clan and the death of his family and you have a ninja that is often far more dangerous than his most famous rival.

Scorpion is also a very interesting character in his own right. Though many thought that he was evil at first glance - due in large part to his association with Shang Tsung in the first game - Scorpion is simply consumed with a desire for revenge and will aim to achieve it by whatever means necessary.

While this makes him susceptible to aligning with evil forces, this ninja is actually much more of an anti-hero and is just as likely to fight for the forces of good if he sees it as a means to his own ends.
