6. WWE Smackdown! vs. Raw 2006 - PS2
By far the best game released under SvR branding, ironing out a lot of the kinks of the previous year's attempt. A reworked grappling system makes a welcome change, demonstrating the feel of a brand new product - rather than just another rehash. We loved the improvements made to the backstage area that provided a new layer of interactive depth. Multiplayer was fantastic, bringing back the ability to challenge for titles in exhibition mode - making your gaming sessions that much more important. Yes, you could battle through the ranks to earn a belt but there's nothing more satisfying than instantly snatching it from a friend who's done all the work. Nothing but praise for play online as well, with a pretty addictive career ranking system and belt exchange. This game was the first appearance for the General Manager mode - adding heaps of single player value, opening up simulation based gaming relatively untapped in mainstream wrestling games. And we're guessing for a lot of you, slightly less baffling than the Marmite appeal of Extreme Warfare Revenge.
