10 Hardest Legend Of Zelda Dungeons
6. The Water Temple (Zelda: Ocarina Of Time)
If there's one Zelda level the fans are sick of talking about, it's Ocarina of Time's Water Temple. The stage crops up a lot on lists like this, but let's face it, it's here on merit.
This is by far one of the most infuriating levels Nintendo has ever come up with for two reasons: those clunky iron boots, and having to constantly adjust the water levels.
The issue with the boots - having to manually equip them via the pause menu every two minutes - was so frustrating in the N64 original that Nintendo made the footwear an item that can be activated with a single touch in the 3DS remake.
Contrary to popular belief, this isn't the toughest dungeon in Zelda history. Once you've beaten it for the first time, repeat playthroughts are relatively painless, but everyone was stumped by it the first time around.
There was always a solitary switch, one elusive key or a secret passage they couldn't find, and simply couldn't progress without the help of a walkthrough as a result.
Looking back almost 20 years later, was the Water Temple really that bad? It's certainly the most frustrating in Ocarina and is the level first-timers are most likely to get stuck on, and while it deserves a spot on any list compiling Zelda's toughest dungeons, is it really harder than Death Mountain or Great Palace?
