8. Wing Mario Over The Rainbow (Super Mario 64)
This Super Mario 64 secret level wasnt all sunshine, lollypops and rainbows. It did have the latter, but also came with side helpings of pain and air rage. Soaring through the sky with the Wing Cap was one of the highlights of the Nintendo 64 launch title, but it was easy to fall out of love with the power-up after plunging to failure for the 150th time in pursuit of this elusive star. Players had to collect eight red coins that were scattered about the level on clouds. The only way to pull off this feat was to guide Mario across the heavens with the utmost precision. One slip-up and you not only missed out on the star, but plummeted outside of Princess Peach's Castle, forcing Mario to re-climb all those stairs for another crack at the level. Isnt it about time Peach installed an elevator? Surely wheelchair access is a major issue.
