7. Secret Shine Challenge 14 (Super Mario Sunshine)
Its difficult to believe that such an optimistically-titled game as Super Mario Sunshine could play host to a level as sadistic as Secret Shine Challenge 14. None of the Shine Challenges were pushovers, but this one really separated the men from the boys. Heres the scene: youre on a fast-flowing river, hopping between lilypads trying to collect the eight red coins, with only the tiniest window of opportunity for each. Nothing less than razor-sharp reflexes and expertly-time jumps would do, oh and the river is laced with lethal poison, so one false move and you're flotsam. There was a trick that allowed players to gather all of the coins without the aid of the lilypads, but that called for just as much technical skill.
