Thanks to its open-world design, Elden Ring features a lot more free roaming bosses than its Soulslike predecessors.

However, with great freedom comes great surprises, as in some bosses can surprise you with a devastating ambush that will obliterate your character on the spot. Especially when you accidentally trespass on their territory, like in the case of the Ancient Dragon Lansseax.

Lansseax is a lightning-breathing dragon that the player can only encounter if they stumble upon her two spawn locations, Abandoned Coffin and Rampartside Path. She is an optional boss, so you technically don't need to fight her, but once you trigger a fight with her, even by accident, your fate is pretty much sealed.

The dragon will fight with you once in the first location until she's down to 20% of her health and then a second time if you visit the Rampartside Path afterwards.

Whether you come across Lansseax is completely up to your luck and how curious you are about exploring the map. For this reason, if this giant beast suddenly takes half of your health with a single thunder strike, know it's probably because you were a little too interested in exploration.
