10 "Hated" Video Games You Should Play In 2019
7. Nioh
"Dark Souls clone". "The Dark Souls of [genre]". How many times have we heard that now?
But then, it's not without merit. Nioh tried to fill that Far Eastern take on the formula before Sekiro came in to blow it out of the water. Whilst the intention was there, it tried to bear too much on its shoulder and couldn't keep up with FromSoftware's behemoth. Random weapon drops, a battle system that had you switch up stances in the heat of the moment, it just had too much going on.
Looking back though, it's worth a second look, as an alternative to Sekiro. It's got a decent fantasy story, a lot of combat options, and a hub system that lets you reattempt areas/missions you were stuck on before.
Play it as its own game, not as a Dark Souls-esque comparison, and there's a lot of fun to be had.
