10 Hidden Video Game Bosses You Weren't Meant To Fight
7. The Collector - Darkest Dungeon
The Collector is a hidden wandering boss from the Darkest Dungeon. He appears in your game only if you do something the game doesn't like, and yet despite being a secret, almost everyone who's played Darkest Dungeon has encountered him.
Why? Because it's in the nature of every gamer to be a greedy little loot goblin.
You see, the Collector is designed to punish players who think they can get away with robbing the dungeons clean. His low spawn rate of 3% triggers only when the player has filled more than 75% of their inventory with loot, and as you may imagine, anyone who's found a fortune in the game carries onto it like their life depends on it.
Although the Collector is a purely optional boss and the player should technically never encounter him if they don't play too greedily, the fact that everyone loves to stuff their pockets full of gold and trinkets has surprisingly made his appearance pretty commonplace.
And if fighting him didn't help you learn the lesson that you shouldn't be greedy, defeating the Collector rewards you with even better and rarer treasures to bag.
Go on, take it. What are they going to do? Spawn another Collector?
