10 Hidden Video Game Bosses You Weren't Meant To Fight
3. Qudenos - Baldur's Gate 3
Usually when you see a giant dragon in the starting location of a game, your first instinct would be to avoid it at all costs.
For some Baldur's Gate 3 players, however, it is an invitation to see if they finally met their match.
In Act 1's starting location, the player can encounter a githyanki patrol next to the entrance to the mountain pass region. The patrol is accompanied by a red dragon called Qudenos, who stays close to his gith buddies as a deterrent for those players who attack first and ask questions later.
However, just because the dragon is levels above all of your party members combined and he's stronger than most enemies you'll fight in Act 3, it doesn't mean you can try to fight him. It just means you won't be able to beat him... without exploits...
Yes, although the game clearly doesn't want you to do this, it is possible to fight and kill Qudenos in Act 1, provided you stash enough gunpowder barrels in your inventory or you come up with some other exploit to even out the odds.
Just keep in mind that doing so may prevent you from continuing the githyanki storyline, since again, the dragon was there to ensure you wouldn't just kill them all.
