10 Hidden Video Game Details You Can Only Find Once A Year
1. Nintendo Switch's Tribute To Satoru Iwata
Perhaps the most exclusive of all of the hidden easter eggs featured on this list, Nintendo's touching tribute to their late president Satoru Iwata sadly no longer works after a late 2017 Nintendo Switch update, but is more than worth covering.
Iwata had been instrumental in the growth of Nintendo into one of the gaming industry's true powerhouses, and was tasked with overseeing the development of the Switch before his untimely death in 2015.
Despite Iwata not getting to see the Switch come to market, Nintendo decided to embed a tribute to the late designer in the system.
To access the easter egg, the date on the Switch's calendar had to be set to July 11, the day of Iwata's passing. Then, if the player performed Iwata's signature 'directly to you' gesture while holding the joy-cons, you could access an emulated version of the 1984 NES title Golf - one of the first games Iwata worked on during his tenure with the company.
