Possibly down to Horizon's various gameplay mechanics all coming from a handful of other prolific games, it's inevitably caused its reputation to wane a tad since launch.

Still, that doesn't get in the way of a spectacular script; one that after the first couple of hours, hits a propulsive stride that doesn't let up for the remainder. Questions ranging from "What are these robot dinosaurs?" to "How has humanity survived amongst them?" to just "Actually, where the hell are we and when is this set?!" ALL get answered. It's a confident mystery-turned-Hollywood blockbuster that has a great main character, some meaty philosophical depth and a World War Z-esque questioning of the value of humanity in the face of an impending apocalypse.

Horizon deals in many heavy themes - but ones that spark interesting conversations around technology, culture and even religion. Its gameplay is a blend of every major title you've already played, but when they're so well done and you have a great story to chase, the end product is an incredible ride with tons to see and do.
