3. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - 93

Uncharted 4
Naughty Dog

No one does a mature video game quite like Naughty Dog. Most likely because as a team they went through their own "teenage phase" with awkward logos and punk rock bandicoots, the Naughty Dog of today are expanding the horizons of interactive storytelling.

For Uncharted 4, that means penning a meta-narrative that takes the experiences we all played across the original trilogy, and making them in-world memories that fuel an older Nathan Drake into realising his own addiction to adventure. It's pretty damn clever.

What follows is not only a spectacularly gorgeous game with levels that stretch as far as the eye can see, but sublime animation, stunning cutscene direction, ace performances from Nolan North and Troy Baker as Nathan and Sam Drake respectively, and a career best showcase of playable set-pieces from Naughty Dog's coding department.

As a sheer feat of game design and pure coding, Uncharted 4 is magnificent.
