7. Persona 5 - 93

Just as a setup, Persona 5's setup is brilliant. Focusing on the Phantom Thieves - your gradually-building posse of beloved characters - they all share the ability to enter other peoples minds and visualise their thoughts as levels and bosses to be analysed and defeated.

The more criminal or depraved the individual, the more the mind will put up increasingly hard defences - not to mention visualisations of the "hosts" themselves, who appear in forms befitting their most personal desires and how they see themselves. Let's just say, fighting an abusive, near paedophilic gym teacher manifesting himself as a giant putrid penis is only the first boss.

Despite this dark underbelly to everything, Persona 5 is primarily a time managed look at student life, a burgeoning social circle of demands and relationships, and combat that deals equally in overblown anime finishers and a killer aesthetic that's a joy to take in.

Oh, and at around 100 hours long, it's stupidly good value for money.
