Thankfully, developers Bluepoint knew exactly how to amplify the positives of an already gorgeous game to ludicrous degree. Hands-down, this version of Shadow of the Colossus is easily one of the best looking games of all time, its serene, painterly qualities only accentuating the hero's journey you're embarking on.

Slaying 16 hulking Colossi is no mean feat, but in clambering across their intricate structures, slow moving limbs and devastating, dust-kicking attacks, each one is like a giant, moving puzzle. You'll trick some into opening up a weak spot, grab others and fly them up into the skies, or down into the depths of a cavernous body of water.

It's truly like playing some culturally beloved fable, with all those mythologised trappings making for an adventure that in many respects, exceeds just controlling an avatar and inputting a variety of commands to make things happen onscreen.
